17/05/2012 · I am buying a new computer with i7-2700K (Sandy Bridge) processor. I do not know whether I should get it overclocked or not. By default, the 2700K is clocked at 3.5GHz, but I can get it factory overclocked to 4.2GHz. Big increase in performance. I'm asking whether or not I should get it overclocking in regards to the life of the processor.

I have recently received my Alienware Aurora with the i7-920 processor. Normal speed is 2.66 but I paid for the factory to overclock it to 3.2 GHz. How can I determine if it was overclocked? All the Windows-based info says 2.66. Someone said to run "CPUID" but I don't know how to do that. Thanks!!
